Eligibility
You must be 18 or older and currently enrolled at an accredited institution. Students at any level and in any field are eligible.
You may enter alone or in a team of up to four. Each team may submit one entry.
Organizers and judges are eligible to enter.
Project and Submission Requirements
New, in-progress, and previously published projects are allowed if the repository is public and the project runs today.
- Submit a public repository URL with a README and instructions for running the project.
- Submit a video of at least 60 seconds showing the project working end to end.
- Include a written description covering the problem and who has it, the method, an Evaluation section stating the metric and measurement method, a “Who benefits, and who could be harmed” section, limitations, and what you would do with another month.
- Provide full attribution for any model, dataset, or code you did not write.
Missing an Evaluation section does not disqualify your entry, but it caps Technical Depth and Rigor & Reproducibility at half marks each.
AI tools
AI assistants and code generators are allowed and expected. Disclose which tools you used and what they did. One line in the README is enough.
Undisclosed generation, or a submission whose author cannot explain the method, scores poorly on Technical Depth. Judges may ask what a given function does.
Judging and public vote
The organizer panel scores entries against the four published criteria at equal weight, 25% each. Ties break toward the stronger held-out evaluation.
Public voting decides People's Choice only. One vote per account. Public vote totals never affect the five judged tracks.
Judges do not score work they contributed to. The organizer's own entry is scored by the other judges.
Prizes are certificates only. Every finalist gets a participation certificate. Winners get a track certificate. All are signed PDFs, citable on a resume, with cash value $0.
Data and privacy
Use public datasets or your own recordings. Follow applicable dataset access and use terms. Do not include video of identifiable people without their consent.
Intellectual property
You keep your work. By submitting, you grant permission to link your repository and show your video on the results page. Open licenses are encouraged, not required.
